Individuals intent on creating a no-sew baby blanket will need about a yard’s worth of solid-colored and patterned fleece fabric, a cardboard square, a pair of fabric-cutting scissors, a ruler and blanket stuffing, which is optional and can be included with designs on fortifying the linen to provide greater warmth.

Step-By-Step DIY Process

Step 1: Find a Large, Flat Surface

Typically, an expansive and flat surface, such a kitchen or dining room table will be needed. It is important to have ample room to spread out the fabric, perform the required measurements, and execute the necessary cutting and any other associated actions necessary in completing the project.

Step 2: Position the Fabric

Once the surface is established, the first action is to lay one piece of fabric face down. Once the first piece of fabric is placed, the other piece of fleece is positioned directly atop, facing up. If the blanket is to include blanket stuffing, the material should be placed in between the two pieces of fabric.

Step 3: Smooth Out the Fabric

Once both pieces of fabric are properly positioned, they must be smoothed out so all four corners line up evenly.

Step 4: Section the Squares

After the fabrics are aligned, cut four squares out of the four corners using the cardboard square templates.

Step 5: Cut the Fabric

When the corner templates are made, ensure both sections of fleece are firmly together and then make a four-inch incision into the fabric and a one-inch wide cut across on all four sides of the blanket to create corner fringes.

Step 6: Knot the Blanket Together

Following the creation of the corner fringes, tie the blanket together using double knots.
